The manga has been addressing it? Things are awkward at home because Mitsuki is avoiding talking about the band drama, so Aya is avoiding going home, and leading to her spending more time at the club.

I mean, the new girl who is all like "why don't you go watch this at home with your GF" is unintentionally pointing out the fact that Aya is avoiding going home.
They live together by sharing an apartment, literally saw them making out in the shower a few chapters ago

Also avoiding a topic is just that avoidance, not addressing it, it the literal opposite of addressing, by definition

I mean - the characters themselves are practicing avoidance, but the author is progressing the story forward with the plot point of Mitsuki's music issue and both her and Aya's lack of communication + Shu coming into the narrative.

But there's multiple moving parts to what's happening at present, and so she's jumping the POV back and forth as each character moves and converges toward the eventual confrontation when each separate plot thread comes together.

It maybe looks disjointed reading each chapter as they come out, but go back and read through the last ~25 chapters in one go, and it all makes sense and the narrative flows quite well.

I thought she was running the family record store? Did I miss when she stopped?
From my understanding she never did.
Joe moved overseas so they closed/sold the store. Mitsuki's aspiring to become a musician after all, I guess running a shop alone doesn't really work for a part time job. Maybe they even moved (iirc we don't really know the details of how they went from school -> living together during the timeskip). They're still living at Mitsuki's place.
In any case, without Joe, the person running the shop full time disappeared. And I guess they didn't just have the kind of money laying around to just open sporadically every now and then - never mind making enough money to pay for rent etc. after the running costs...

All that being said, I went back to check and all I could find was ch. 146, saying "once stood a shabby cd shop", so either I'm overlooking something rn or my mind hallucinated quite a lot based on just this...

It's done a good job of it too, shifting perspectives, adding context through dialogue and active scene. She's really used the 4 pages well recently to build this tension while not having chapters bogged down with a shift in the typical mood. Everyone is behaving like normal but also not like normal and the ways they act slightly different reveals what they're currently struggling with. It's been great.

You mentioned the focus on Aya, the new friend and of course Mitsuki, already. We've learned so much about the current lay of the land while still leaving mysteries to solve later. Most importantly, there's so much potential for what comes next. It's not following the standard arc structure of most yuri manga and that's been exciting to follow. I actually think this has been some of her best stuff and is one of those series where things improved once they got together. I guess if you're just in it for fluff, you'll feel differently but the writing, fluff or not, has been good. Haven't been this interested in the series in a long time.
The jumping storytelling style can be really frustrating as it's coming out in a trickle, but by the end of each arc it's always so worth it.
