So, if we take this chapters publication date (21 Oct. 2021) as about the date in universe (I know of no other identifying in world time to say otherwise) then she was born about 1931-32 making her ages 10 to 15yo during the period of WW2.
So she would have experienced, at least indirectly if not more directly, the firebombing's and nuking of Japan.
Kind of sobering as a western reader...
