Iirc it was advertised as a promo manga for the LN since the very start, so it wasn't really an axe but had a known fate already, LN still going with 14 volumes and doing fine and even got anime with a S2 coming, though this manga ended like 2 years ago already doing up to the end of LN Volume 5 or Volume 6
