They are an outlier and she is not naive. That's all. The world does not appreciate intermixing and that family still gets weird looks. They're a very unique situation, so she's talking about how most people will see it and what the typical life would look like. Remember she could only stay with the beastmen because of her special job as well. I don't know if you're following the series currently but it goes into more depth about these issues later.
