They are an outlier and she is not naive. That's all. The world does not appreciate intermixing and that family still gets weird looks. They're a very unique situation, so she's talking about how most people will see it and what the typical life would look like. Remember she could only stay with the beastmen because of her special job as well. Given the beginnings of the next few chapters, I'm reasonably certain that it's something of a translation difficulty (divide between Japanese and English + serial format problems).
