The way she talked to him while staring at her phone with a look of utter boredom and contempt, I've seen that look in real life, that's her with the mask off. You never believe it the first time you see it, but the fact that he's having flashbacks to it shows just how painfully aware of exactly the kind of person she is under that "smile" he is. Can't wait to see him stand up to her and draw a line in the sand next chapter.
