He is rather off, especially considering that at least as far as pronunciations are concerned many of the difficult sounds in Hungarian can be found, in some manner of Japanese. As close English comparisons, the way to pronounce "Só" is basically the same as "sho" in show, while the "t" is pronounced like "T"error and the "lan" in the same way as "lan"guage.
Now, for what he was talking about, the closer translation would be:
Sótalan
However, that is a very old fashioned (think mid 20th century at the latest) way of saying it, and the more correct up-to-date version would be:
Sótlan
As far as the actual word is concerned, Hungarian language adds bits to words to signal things that, in English for example would be standalone words. Here:
Só=Salt and "talan/tlan" is an additive (actually a couple of them, but don't worry about that) that takes its vowels of the base word (meaning it could change the a in it to e for instance), meaning "without" or "lacking" So, a "sótlan" étel(=meal) would be a meal lacking salt.
TLDR: Hungarian language can be insane for outsiders to learn, but just as far as the spoken sounds are concerned, most can be found in Japanese, and some even in English.
