A yeah, nothing like a good old genocide of global proportions 
Obviously, overpopulation is a problem, but even if you were in favor of their "solution", if you suddenly reduced the global population to a measly 500 million, that'd basically cause our societies and infrastructure as we know it to collapse...
Istg, we keep getting shown their backstory one panel per chapter
"You need resting, you lost lots of blood" - proceed to hop into straight into the "bad guy hideout"
Are we heading for an (almost) everyone dies ending? They're not exactly trying hard to stay alive...
