Wait a sec tho.... Tou didn't suffer any defeats during the time he campaigned against Zhao (like 300 chapters ago) or since.....
So wouldn't his army, that has been around 100K before, have no need for an influx of new soldiers? I understand Shin & the boys got tons of the new troops, since they suffered serious losses, but the "household/own army" troops that were with Tou before the registry should still be available? Ergo his own army should still possess the same strength as it did originally?

Thanks for the chapter.

The author had the best opportunity to give Kyoukai the chance to say “Keikaku* doori / According to keikaku*” (and also the face), but I guess it doesn’t suit the series.

(Also in line with tradition: )
*keikaku means plan.

I agree with you that the line sounds odd.

The way I try to explain it to myself is Tou was watching the border before and he can’t take all his men with him. A good chunk (~10-20k) had to be left at the fort and city to hold the line. Whatever the difference was then replenished by the conscripts.

Of course a simpler explanation that I would also accept is the author simply slipped up. :ROFLMAO:

Glad to see the real translators deliver.

Also man I really like Ryuu'an. An extremely levelheaded man who not only knew not to keep the army around, but also to use his men that were scared of the Qin army to evacuate civilians (as they wouldn't be able to put their heart into anything else). Hope he sticks around in some capacity, not a warhawk but also not some deus ex machina man.

I think they mightve mixed ppl around because if one army is conscripted of just ppl from the new draft they would get demolished

Tou clearly hasn't played Medieval 2 yet, you let the enemy go and they'll just come back to fight you again later. And no, the chivalry bonus is not worth it, dread is way better.

This chapter just proves that Tou is not a gamer, I'm disappointed.

I view it like this: true, you'll have to fight this 70k soldier no matter what, but it went down from 2 siege wars to 1. I imagined taking down two castles cost more than just one bigger castle with more soldiers.

Because Tou's personal army is not 100k, rather most of the army was assigned to him by the government. Just like how Hi shin,Gaku ka units used to roam battlefields to support wherever they were needed, the same would go for other soldiers as well. Whenever the generals would be fighting a war,the government would be assigning them soldiers.

That is not how war works. Look at it like it's time, instead of soldiers you have hours. When Tou was assigned there he had two years of soldiers. Even though he didn't lose battles (didn't waste any time), he still had to fight and every time he did he lost soldiers (just like it's inevitable for time to pass by and be spent even if you are using it efficiently and effectively).

If he had lost maybe he could have lost a third or more of his army in just a couple of battles, but since he never lost then his army simply got a little smaller each time for a long time until the point that now he needed reinforcements.

yea it's good that you won a bloodless victory but all this does is combine the enemy armies, how do you expect to win the big battle against them without losing a ton of soldiers?

It's true that Sensescans has slowed down and fallen behind a bit the other language groups. But the chapters you eventually release are always high quality, and we've been reading from you for years now.

I will wait for Sensescans version no matter what!

its attempt to have one big battle over long sporadic multiple siege battle across enemy territory.

they don't have luxury of time as they need re-fought Zhou and need to finished it as quick as possible.

as anti-climatic that second battle with zhou might be...
pro-tip, its historical manga, DO NOT read the spoiler by reading through the actual historical records.
