I feel our MC is going to active his hidden skill "Plot Armor," manage to hold off long enough for backup to arrive, saving his love interest from betting crippled, and winning her everlasting love. Then he gets his reward of being nursed by hands from his love interest while he recovers from his minor injuries and exhaustion and gain a boost in his rep.

That or the looming shadow was just your friendly neighborhood gruff woodman/hunter that just happen to be in the area and will safely lead the girl safely out of the woods. While the MC will run into the hoard of mobs and gets beaten half to death before backup arrived but luckily doesn't get maimed so badly that he gets crippled. But hopefully will spot some cool manly scars that will cause women to do a complete 180 and instead of being disgusted by his presence and will swoon instead.

It's not that uncommon for manga to have scenes like this that obscure just how much time has flowed between panels for dramatic effect. Like it'll show one char looking for another, and then cut to the other one wandering around which you assume is happening at the same time, but nope it's actually an hour later or whatever and the char manages to find them after a long time searching, despite it being a few pages or whatever.

Like it'll show one char looking for another, and then cut to the other one wandering around which you assume is happening at the same time, but nope it's actually an hour later or whatever and the char manages to find them after a long time searching, despite it being a few pages or whatever.

nah, I explicitly stated the chapter clearly shows what I described, to ensure that any such shenanigans next chapter are non-canon. Because I too know manga often does it and it is extremely infuriating.

Tbf, since she survived in game timeline(barely). I guess the orc in this story "playing with food" long enough for eh.... Amira(since she's strongest fighter in the area) who supposely went straight back to town in game timeline and probably heard the news later , still come to rescue her in time.

MC make amira change direction and most likely help them both faster than game timeline. Also, if we go with usual troup, it gonna be MC who badly hurt because he use plot armor to run to her direction(she gonna shout "save me!" and protect her/take a hit just in time. then Amira catch up and save a day. while make lotte fallen for him hard because he risked his life for her.

IF things develop like the story he knows, then the girl lives. Since that is the case, rather than despairing over a shoe he should try to rush to wherever she is. He can despair afterwards IF he fails...

But we all know he will save her somehow and that will be the start of the romance XD
