interesting that hajime seems to be wearing down hijiri's defenses with the "are you happy to see me?" line - if you go back to chapters 3 and 4 he asks the same question but hijiri outright says no. this time around he doesn't deny it
i'm not sure what it's supposed to mean in the grand scheme of things...maybe it's that hijiri is lying to himself less? in the last chapter he doesn't have much of a retort towards hajime calling him "a pervert who gets off on the fantasy of being killed [by him]" LOL but i get the feeling he would have tried to deny it earlier on
I think it would also mean something like Hajime's power over Hijiri is overpowering Hijiri's sense of self which is very interesting 😭😭 He'd 100% deny the offer earlier in the chapters if it was the usual Hijiri, but I think this is what Hajime exactly wants and what he means by his own title ("son of night and death"), and in humans' language it means fear. Humans fear mortality most, or their own death, and Hijiri would deny it earlier on based on this fear, but if he doesn't deny it anymore it also means that he's slowly losing that fear against Hajime as well 😭😭 Which, in plot progressing is very interesting and but for Hijiri, it's definitely... bad.
