I guess it's some kind of mid-series crisis for many an isekai/fantasy mangaka, the moment when they ask themselves why are they drawing a fantasy European style manga despite being a Japanese author who may not have ever even visited Europe. In the middle of the angst of that crisis, they then inject an "eastern country" in the fantasy world, a country that has all the Japanese things the mangaka would be more familiar with.

I wonder, do the Japanese consumers of manga (and light novels) even really require almost all of their sword and sorcery to be located in a world that resembles Europe more than Japan? Certainly there are equivalent fantasy located in historical fantasy Japan, even isekai, but they are few and far between compared to these more European themed ones. Shouldn't it be the other way around? We are talking about Japanese authors making entertainment for the Japanese audience, after all.
