I don't get why these things are always referred to as debuts in manga and anime, I get that it's probably the direct translation from Japanese but it's just bad localisation as debut is never used like that, at least not in the UK, not criticising @HeatManga as most translators I see seem to use it but it's just not correct if you want to translate in a way a person actually speaks

Agreed with the above. Should probably be "first appearance in a miniskirt" or "first time wearing a miniskirt" or "breaking in my miniskirt." Those would be most natural in American English. Debut in the sense the manga is using is more often used in the phrase "high school debut." It's for a first appearance in a new stage of life, not just a change of clothing.
