I watched the anime before reading the manga and Misako’s reaction to Sana’s birth mother made me resent her a little all throughout the shows run
She says being so young is no excuse. It literally is! I understand she’s anxious Keiko might try to take Sana back, but that’s no excuse as an adult to slap a women for the poor decisions she made as a FOURTEEN year old girl. Of course what Keiko did wasn’t right, but Misako’s had a long time to think about what she would say to Keiko, slapping her was out of line. While Keiko believes she actually loved Sana’s birth father, that doesn’t change the fact she was groomed because she was vulnerable and impregnated at THIRTEEN by a TWENTY NINE year old MAN (assuming Takeshi is also in the manga, and the same age as he was in the anime.) Misako’s reaction is Keiko makes me sick, Keiko is a victim. I do like Misako so far in the manga, and in the anime but how Keiko is treated in both adaptions always makes me feel so bad for her. Also fuck Takeshi RIP BOZO

I understand you, Keiko truly is a victim. Thinking about how a 14y.o. girl gave birth, and the dad is her uncle is.............

That's why, in this manga(tbh, I havent watch the anime, I'm sorry) I'd like to interpret Misako's action to slap Keiko is her decision as "Sana's mother", so, it's like, a mother's wrath, also as Misako's affection towards Sana. At first, Sana didnt really get angry at Keiko after all, well, she said some kinda mean things at her at the end of that amusement park, though this is Sana's way of telling her that "Her mother is Misako". I'm seeing this too much from Sana and Misako's pov, though. If it's from Keiko's pov, since she's already has another daughter, I just hope that she's truly happy with her current life, just like Sana's happy with her current life with Misako. Also, I hope Keiko's husband is a nice person. Not that groomer uncle of her. He can go die.
