Reread the chapter, and you can see that Mitsuhashi is the only one who reacts differently every time Hoshino's name comes up. She didn't join the other girls when they listed Hoshino's good point. When Umi asked if they had feelings for him, there were only three girls who answered.

Thinking about it, this series will either lead to Umi's heartbreak or just a cliffhanger (Umi being satisfied by just being together etc.)
Considering what we currently know, I say the setup is for them to get together. We mostly follow Umi pov and we can she that she slowly opens herself to the people around her. This will lead to her confessing to Shouya, considering he is the one who pushed her to change, and either he accepts or rejects her.

It all depends on Shouya, because as of right now, he sees her only as a little sister. So it depends on what the author's intention is with him.

Writing this, I can see that there is a chance he can get popular as a mangaka by making romance manga using his eventual development with Umi as some sort of reference. Considering he likes to draw cute girls, and there is already a great model near him, and Umi herself loves reading romance manga, which can be another reason for him to try to make it.

"Luggage doesn't deserve the privilege of leadership"
Harsh. But fair.

Reread the chapter, and you can see that Mitsuhashi is the only one who reacts differently every time Hoshino's name comes up. She didn't join the other girls when they listed Hoshino's good point. When Umi asked if they had feelings for him, there were only three girls who answered.
Yeah I picked up on the odd-girl-out.

Ganbare, Mitsuhashi. I believe in you.

I really love this! They took the trope that's common in shoujo with the popular guy that has fans and actually made it interesting. The girls are fun and likeable instead of bitchy, the 'how dare you make him like you, he belongs to everyone!', I'm so sick of that.
And I love all the characters, they are perfect combination of tropes and still unique and relatable. Also the comedy and art is fantastic, each chapter is a satisfying length with no cliffhangers but I still can't wait for more chapters, this is probably my favourite ongoing manga right now.

When a chapter of a romance manga doesn't revolve around the "main couple" and is still so nice and enjoyable, it's a sign of a good story

Girls with pants under skirts have this unique charm. Like, even when you're obligated to wear skirts, if you put your pants on you won't have to worry about being feminine or having your skirt flipped, and can fool around and have fun just like that. It kinda warms my heart.
And so, in this chapter we got x8 of that, both with pants and shorts. And I'm totally fulfilled
Thank you very much for the translation, gentlemen

I love this series so much! I'm enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed Horimiya back then. :glee::hearts::hearts::hearts:
Thank you for the translation!

Yeah but look at the other trope-types:
Tsundere- toxic relationship at best, abusive.
Yandere- See above and will be required to move a few states away when the relationship crumbles else RIP your property.
Kuudere- Congrats you finally got her to say "I love you too". You'll never hear her say it first though after 6 years into the relationship.
Dandere- see above. People don't tend to switch up like that quickly. Also xpect stonewalling during arguments
Deredere- overly affectionate to the point where its just lovebombing. Either it feels disengenuous, or you grow to take it for granted.
Himedere/Goudere/etc.etc. are all also unhealthy in terms of power dynamics or interpersonal relationships.

Someone who's super hyper and usually annoyingly positive can be irritating, but usually they're pretty stable and realistically wouldn't date you if you also didn't have an outgoing/active lifestyle.
I would say that if you take it to the extreme of just purely and utterly being the prefix, ignoring the dere suffix entirely, ALL of them are pretty unbearable, with tsun and yan being the worst. And even then, if rather take deredere than utter genki. In a more practical sense where the dere part does exist, kuuderes are probably the optimal solution for a lot of people, ime. cool, calm and composed, and loving with the right people.

such cute art and character moments!!! tbh im scared atp about umi and shouya getting together bc of age gap, but i think i should just trust the author. i think this will be a sizable ride (at least 30 chapters) so there is time for things to grow and be done. though calling it now, if the author writes it well i would be perfectly satisfied with a non traditional romance ending where umi and shouya don't end up together (at least not in a cleancut way) i think id love that actually.

Square Enix just announced that they gonna release a print edition in April next year!!! :wooow: :wooow: :wooow:
Though they haven't said anything yet, I guess we'll see it too at Manga Up.
dude u made my day not only bc of this manga but bc the announcement you posted has let me learn we're getting a new ff7 novel. thank you bro <3
