I'm still not sold on this. I could get past his being a jerk if he realized it on his own. But the fact that he basically had to be told so and then be prodded to apologize by someone else is a red flag.
Also not a fan of the co-worker badger her into smiling. Yes, yes, customer service and all that. It's still creepy and weird.
I'll give this a couple more chapters but this mostly feels like kimono porn (which doesn't do a thing for me) wrapped in an otherwise crap story.
apparently in JP McDonald’s you can “order a smile” which might sound cute but a bit weird or so but it’s a pretty old school cliche for the male love interest to be a bit of a jerk but yeah her being knocked down and even a lack of insincere apology seems like it’d reflect badly on him with his coworkers too, if she had been someone “important” he def would’ve had more backlash (half expect some cheesy dramatic backstory where he’s “cold” to girls for a reason)
That said even with that office lady uniform maybe it’s just the art style and her innocent(?) personality she still seems like a 16 year old to me xP
…tho, considering there’s 13 vols, and it’s only her on the cover, maybe “coffee shop boy” won’t be the final boy and she’ll have multiple “first encounters”, tho vol ten shows her in a traditional? JP wedding dress so she gets serious enough to marry someone but it’d be a red flag if post marriage having a bad husband versus having a proper talk about what they expect from each other and realistic goals /what they plan for in their relationship
