It's a little weird, from the art it really looked like they suddenly gave Neo a young adult man's body (with the same face), but then in his talk with Ichiko he looked like a kid again. I don't think he's changing at will so idk, I think the author should have had a little bit more care with proportions here, especially since to give that strangeness the students must feel to suddenly have a robot teacher that looks like a young androgynous being.
