Suspension of disbelief is working really hard to let us just accept that a young woman would invite this guy she knew back when they were kids and have not spoken for 10+ years to live with her. This would make a lot more sense if they were family but then obvious romance subplot would be weird...or not, this is Japan.
Really? I know few girls who are bringing guys just after they met them (at bars and clubs for example) to their apartaments...so inviting someone she already knew back when they were kids and clearly liked hims is really nothing special.

Is Japan legal system really that sh!tty or it's just weak writing?
It may be, in my country (Türkiye) its similar. The things a woman says becomes the truth first to give them a positive discrimination and some women uses it to get money for life while destroying the men.
I think she set him up bc she had recording device ,without his knowledge, which should be illegal to use at court so she can get money out of him and probably using it with some dude. This doesnt make any sense honestly bc if you r husband and wife the size shouldnt scare you anymore bc you choose him with that size from the start. Well it May be that im wrong and he hold her hand that "hurt" her. But it mostly seem like a set up from her. Everyone would yell when they Heard divorce out of nowhere to understand what happened.

Childhood friends, so i think its pretty normal too. Also they were so close that time. When i think about my childhood friends, it doesnt matter girl or boy honestly i would help them in the best of my ability. In this case she liked him > learned that he got married > get sad and dissappointed> found him again> and he is divorced so she has a chance. So yeah she would jump to the chance she is given.

I know it’s too early to say this, but it seems like this guy’s wife set a trap for him. We’d better wait for the author to publish the rest of the work he just started.

As for the gyaru letting the guy live with her, it must be because of the hardships they both went through when they were kids.

In the flashback to when they were children, the girl has a bandage on her face and says she doesn’t want to go back home. It seems to me that the girl wasn’t being treated well—or at the very least, was being neglected by her relatives—and the protagonist insisted on staying with her all the time, even though he was punished by his parents when he came home late.
For the gyaru, the domestic violence accusation against the protagonist didn’t affect her opinion of him.

At first she just said he can stay at her place. And yeah if one of my close friends from childhood would become homeless its only normal to let them in. I dont know... maybe people from around here are weird but thats obvious for me.

On the domestic abuse: The translator says she accused him of both verbal and physical abuse in the court doc. She also demanded a lump sum and payments as a settlement. If you use the contextual clues about him being the "scary big guy" it implies he was set up, possibly from the start. There will probably be more on what happened later.

good first chapter, now lets hope that the age gap isn't somehow 20 years or some shit in classic manga fashion :meguuusad:
Dude, they were in elementary school together. They're literally childhood friends. Meaning they were both children. He was scolded by his parents because he stayed out late to keep her company because she didn't want to go home. At most there a couple of years difference but I'd guess they're the same age because he's just a big guy. He's twice her size as an adult, them being the same age and him being a head taller as a kid isn't exactly that far fetched.

There, the law always assumes that the victim is telling the truth in cases of abuse against women.
Much of this is due to a centuries-old culture in which women were always considered inferior.
Machismo was deeply ingrained there for a long period, much more so after contact with the West.
So, after the laws began to protect them, they needed to be very strict.
Sorry if the writing is strange, I'm using a translator.
