This story is super sonic racing. Can even think for a second before some other thing happens. I think the childhood friend knows something about the gyaru. Something that'll hurt the ML. I still don't get why she rejected him though. story is trash but I am racoon.

Probably that the gyaru has something to do with the accident.

Maybe he was inside the van that killed MC's family or something

This is really absurd. MC just straight up made some stuff up and made the entire situation worse. All he had to do was say pretty much the truth, just cut out the part time job and body guard stuff.

"I went for walk late last night and stumbled upon Hoshimiya-san as she was being robbed on the way back from a shop. I managed to scare the robber away by luck and she invited me over for some tea. It was late, she let me sleep over on the floor over night, nothing happened".

That's all he had to say. No implied relationship or fake confession, no lying to your childhood friend, no major backlash from your classmates. At worst there may a be few rumours for a little while, but not any worse then current situation. Terrible story premise.
