I have to hand it to this story, that just when I thought things were actually getting a little better, it remembers to stay down in the trash with a last minute amnesia development. I guess it has a garbage reputation to maintain, after all. And it's doing a good job at that. This never fails to disappoint, and that's something.
Bruh, after all that grandstanding about marrying Ayana and building a family with her, this erases all of that and justifies Ayana's hesitancy to love him back. Riku's just as nuts as she is, after all. He almost looked like a manly man that time he talked to his granddad, and now this rugpull makes him look downright pathetic. Nobody's allowed to look cool in a dumpster fire like this.
"If he forgot me... I'll make him fall in love with me again..."
Big words. Grandstanding like your insane boyfriend, I see. Do you have the resolve to make him?
"You're so strong, Ayana..."
Are you talking about the same girl who spent much of the story running away, losing her memories, going crazy?
"I... shouldn't be by his side."
It only took 3 pages. 3. Whole. Pages. Ayana's resolve didn't even last one day or a half chapter, and then we see her return the key to Riku's flat and then move out (again, didn't I see this before???). If Riku looked lame after developing amnesia, Ayana isn't gonna lose to him there by going back on her word... maybe, mere hours after she said it.
As bad as this is, I'm actually having fun pointing out all the crazy crap going on here. If there's ever a manga equivalent of the Golden Raspberry award for terrible writing, this would be a very strong contender for it.
