Well, war is indeed the easiest way to resolve conflicts since it's directly removing a portion of the parties involved.
Basically, no one to keep the conflict around, the conflict dies out.

But it's not the best way since it's costly and would leave all involved party in a deprived state.
And yet, people like the idea of wars better than other methods of settling conflicts.
