Back on chapter 18, when they were about to cross from the humankin continent to the beastkin continent, It was said that the seas are inhabited by monsters that are drastically stronger than those that are found on land. The reason why the sea monsters don't attack the bridges wasn't explained though. :x
This is just conjecture from my part but, on the first page of that same chapter It was shown that the bridge was surrounded by massive whirlpools, these probably were formed due to the bridge structure interfering with the ocean currents, and I think that's why the monsters can't get close to It.
Now how they managed to construct those massive bridges, if the sea monsters are so powerful that they rend the use of ships inviable, I have no idea. :u
... Or boats and ships just don't exist on that world, for whatever reason, as you said. lol

@kur0g4m1 They do have magic, so that's something to consider when it comes to how they could have kept the monsters at bay long enough to build the bridges. A bridge of the style depicted would require a large number of cofferdams to be built so that the pylons holding it up could be sunk into the ground beneath the sea, which would probably be kinda trivial with enough mages at their disposal. With enough water mages, they could probably create those whirlpools to keep the beasts away while they built the bridges, which could be greatly sped up with earth mages... Though that mainly depends on exactly how the non-cheat types of magic really work in this world.

As for boats, I can't imagine they don't exist at all, but considering even that lake from the chapter with the cow crabs could theoretically hold massive and powerful monsters, they're probably limited to simple rivercraft like canoes and kayaks; not the kind of thing you could use when crossing with an army. That said, despite having read and re-read this series several times, I cannot for the life of me remember seeing a map, so it could be that the continents are really close together and surround a (mostly) landlocked sea, with each continent divided by narrow straits, kinda like the Bosporous Strait or the Strait of Gibraltr here on Earth. In a situation like that, and with the sea monsters destroying any vessel that ventured too far from shore, I imagine the people of this world wouldn't be in much of a hurry to develop the kind of craft necessary for a navy. But I'm just speculating here, so take it with a grain of salt.

How many of them can fly? And why were they keeping a bridge to a hostile nation up to begin with? I mean, the demons have more than enough reason to destroy the bridge now, and the beast-kin had reason to destroy it when the last demon king was still on the throne.

@firefish5000 The demons didn't want to destroy it. They are likely the ones who built it, I can't see the beastkin even having what it takes to make one. The demons would have defended the bridge itself if the beastkin had tried to come to destroy it. This time, by the looks of it, was unique with the demons making no attempt to prevent the beastkin from reaching the bridge with a sizable force. The beast king was earlier complaining how the demons were strolling around the beastland however they wanted, which suggests the bridge was purely in demon hands before now.

@pato they do have boats, but, we have not seen them bc everything has been on land. But, see it this way, there is no clear way to transport the boats. You would have to make them there to transport soldiers while being rammed up the ass by demons. If they bring them over and succeed, demons are rooted in a iron clad fortress and ram up their asses again.

In a sure way, their only option is to use air forces, and then, they can transport the soldiers.

Forget demolishing the bridge, why are you not building FORTIFICATIONS ON IT? Or if it's supposed to be neutral ground (and you respect that for some reason) why not at least fortify your side of it???

i hope MC actually ditches them, characters in this manga are pretty boring and predictable, even tho he's been with this party for a long time i'm not attached to them in the slightest
