I had a similar feeling when chapters 7 and 8 released, but rightfully assumed they were written that way to close out Volume 1. 9-13, and presumably Volume 2, seems to center around the theme of families. I like to think the author is using this arc to close out Volume 2.

I really hope this series continues. I still want to see Iruka’s parents, and the Goddess behind Kotodama’s existence.

But who knows you might actually be right…
