I'm not so sure Alan should keep hoping he'll eventually rejoin the empire in his lifetime given the odds calculated by AI Iris (assuming she isn't lying), and besides her creation of clones using hero Iris's DNA is already a serious violation of imperial regulations, so even if he did he'd be in hot water at best. Although if it takes more than one generation for imperial reinforcements to reach them, he can probably get away with having cloned general Iris, if the clones have already died of old age by then.
Cleria is asking to be a joint ruler like he proposed, but wants to have her native land as her own personal domain. But from his perspective, if he is taking over as governor general for the empire, then that means she isn't getting to rule as queen/empress like she thinks, but simply as co-governor of the continent and a lord of her domain that was once a kingdom. Still, he's her best shot at taking back anything given she has like, 2000 soldiers at best.
Being the neutron star dense guy he is, the misunderstanding with the clone girls is right on cue. He didn't clarify that the girls' children are also necessarily his, just that his children and their children would be taking over the reins of the mission if they can't fulfill it in their lifetimes.This is because he didn't pick up the fact that they misunderstood his words as, him wanting to make babies with them.
More importantly, this plants the seed of attraction in the hearts of the twin clones and waters the budding plant in Ria's heart... right on schedule for that harem, I guess.
