Well, ever since he was a kid, he DID fuck FMC over by getting her exiled over a fucking vase! (If not for her luck stat and what happened to her! Her family are pretty vile! I can already expect them to bother her despite the fact they threw her a CHILD out in the wilderness EXPECTING her to die, and will SHAMELESSLY try to take credit for her accomplishments! Got to love the hypocrite "Noble Disownment!" If you bring disgrace and ruin you're on your own. If you became successful and great, then you "owe us for being born despite the fact we did nothing to help you get to that success other then PUTTING YOU IN A VERY DANGEROUS DESTITUTE SITUATION THAT FORCED YOUR HAND WITHOUT A CARE!"
He's scared because he's spend years think her dead or if she survived, barely surviving as a nobody commoner! Seeing her success, especially over him TERRIFIES him because I'm sure her "exile" was meant to be an "example" on "what the family does to USELESS individuals" and so he's TERRIFIED that if he loses! He'll disgrace the Family, ESPECIALLY if he loses against his former sister, a "nobody" who was "erased" so the family looks perfect (only to end up SURPASSING the family's "future" which is him! Bringing up questions on if it was the "right choice" to remove her and keep him! He's a Noble raised in the hypocritical world of their families values they see nothing wrong with "culling the SUPPOSE weak" and convincing themselves "they have no one to blame but themselves" yet would shamelessly play the "oh your birth is because of us" if they were to "be useful!" He fears being tossed out and them trying to invite her back to the family! I know you want to say "but she won't" but in his mind and in what world he was raised in "Selfish cannot comprehend Good!" He can't FATHOM why she wouldn't want to return to their family and/or get revenge on him for her exile! It's funny how she hasn't even BOTHERED to seek him out all while he's been STALKING her since catching site of her!
He's been taught only to be ambitious and take what he can, over any form of caution (helps he had no competition since FMC was thrown out and even before he was treated as THE FUTURE anyway and the incident back then was just so they can "Get rid of the LOAD while CONVINCING themselves she did something to DESERVE it!" and he KNOWS THIS) and it will backfire on him! Guessing they figured out him and FMC connection, and took note of his anxiety at failing against her, so took the chance and "what do you know, he really HAS no sense of CAUTION and just BOUGHT what they shoveled in his mouth! LOL"
Would be funny if it gets him expelled and then EXILED from the family for the disgrace! Would be Karma for what he did back then, he might not have fully THOUGHT of his actions back then (he was a kid, likely knew of FMC pariah status in the family, but never thought they throw her out, just yell/scold/beat her for what HE did, where he might hav gotten TWO of those three options, the latter not even! He's older and so knew better now, but has no remorse, thinking of number one, which is why his anxiety came in seeing her again in the Academy! He likely in that "mind that has developed in that environment" made her own goals for HERSELF all about "him and HIS family" and I say HIS because she hasn't even THOUGHT of him and the family since that incident because why should she, she has no good memories of any of them and would be funny if he discovers too late this! Ruined himself for no good reason, though he still would have plagued her in fear if the family found out of the defeat and her, they'll still belittle him for losing against "the failure exile" because Nobles have to make EVERYTHING about themselves as you've seen, Commoner being happy of their own accomplishments and have no care about USURPING Nobles. "OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE UPSTARTS PLOTTING TO UPSTAGE THEIR BETTERS THEY NEED TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON!" Because the world can't FUNCTION or make sense in their minds unless they make it all about themselves! In this case, they cast the commoner as a VILLAIN trying to take what they the Noble view as theirs by RIGHT OF EXISTING AND DESIRING IT THEMSELVES! Basically if they want it, it's theirs, and if you want it, or they THINK you want it, you're the bad guy for desiring what they want which is exclusive to them because they were "born in the right way while you weren't!" They live off hierarchy, despite the fact it's not suppose to apply in the Academy which is more Merit based! It's The mindset Nobles have that "commoners should be HAPPY with their lot and not take what isn't theirs, and if they aren't, then THEY are bad commoners for not "mind reading!")
