Eleanor is showing her motherly instincts, of course she wouldn’t allow her daughter to join a very dangerous battle against one of the strongest enemies in this world. She may not show it, but she’s definitely afraid of something terrible happening to Hikari, and for good reason, she’s still just a child, not even a year old yet.
Maybe Eleanor was a little too rough, and wasn’t as kind and soft with Hikari as she should have been, but she isn’t exactly used to being a mother yet either. Her instincts are guiding her, but her nature is holding her back from being calm, gentle and understanding. She’ll learn how to handle children in time, but for now what matters most is keeping Hikari safe, even if that means making her sad in the moment. I’m sure if hurts Eleanor just as much as it does Hikari to act like that. She doesn’t want to hurt her precious daughter, and more than anything she doesn’t want to be unable to prevent Hikari from being hurt or worse in battle, it terrifies her.
