Shiraori/Wakaba/D are all supposed to be incredibly beautiful. I'm guessing they purposely made them a bit more cartoony in the manga and anime to cut down on audience horniness. Haha. They did something similar with Youjo Senki/Tanya the Evil, making everyone way more cartoony in the anime than the original novel and the manga at the author's request, because he didn't want people to sexualize the main character.
