Mangas talking about "what is art" are quite interesting to see, and they're not legion.
Some of them are even trying to take on the role of questioning the reader about what he's reading but are in fact just meant to be lousy entertainment... It's quite disheartening, really.
When well done, it's the kind of manga I like best, and this is looking quite good.
It has good teachings at least, primarily because mc is bad at what he does and has such a fervour to improve, he'll need those lessons so badly. His drive for learning and improving is skillfully pictured, and it's about the whole plot for now (lol).
The art isn't impressive, it's used sometimes well but that's it. It's still good enough to tell the story without being too bland, which is a positive point.
The characters don't have enough depth to them to call them good enough, they're just getting dragged around by the story for now. It's not a bad point, but not a good one either.
All in all, it's good, but at any juncture it could become really bad, as it could potentially evolve into something outstanding over time if the plot manages to thrive continuously (I've had constant doubts for a while but let's see).
