Okay, complaint time.
He whines about wanting a road bike, but the rear gear set has 8 gears. That means the front has either one or two, for 8 or 16 speeds. Those are pretty much standard road bike setups. I think what he's wanting is a mommy bike, which is a common pedal assisted electric bike that makes it easy to bike long distances & up hills.
