Errr... not trying to be that guy, but shounen battle manga with female MC is slightly uncommon yes, but not a new thing.
One of the more famous example I could think of the top of my head would be Claymore (if you haven’t read it, give it a go, it’s a cracker!)

I agree with you that shounen with fmc not being new, but I think Claymore would fit more as seinen instead.

Tho honestly with the popularity of manga like JJK and other, the line between shounen and seinen has been blurrier than ever. So maybe it is a shounen, if thats the case mb dude.

You’re not alone, I was also a bit unsure at first and I had to double-check myself. Claymore is categorized as shounen and was published in Shounen Jump.

Something is a shonen if it is published in a shonen magazine, like Claymore was. It is not a seinen. It is very clear cut.

She was probably given it by someone else, and then she mistook that for Claude giving it to her when in fact they have only known each other for a slightly longer time than she enrolled the academy and he was already unable to use magic as a cat at the time.
