The whole reason any of us read manga through MangaDex and other sites is because we have no ability to read them otherwise,for various reasons,plenty of which are out of our control.

Those same reasons are also why plenty can't just drop whatever they're doing,learn Japanese for five years straight,and then simply purchase the originals direct from Japan.

So a scanlator simply choosing to stop because a region specific phone app is doing it anyway is equivalent to the comic straight up ending for months or even years.

Plenty of sites might actually continue with it,but just how many Goddamn accounts are we expected to make?,how many bookmarks do we have to make?

It's not selfish in the slightest to ask them to continue,and now they can actually just use said application as a reference,since they clearly can access it if they're making such claims.
