This chapter did a better job of showcasing the relationship between Renshi (Jinshi) and Haoran (Kounen), something that the BG version and anime only glanced over. Even if it was only two pages, it added some characterization to Renshi that was otherwise missing.

Also him recognizing that the bottle had salt from the flame test was quite nice, being a callback to the "cursed" wood tablets in the previous arc. I definitely prefer this version of the manga in terms of the story.

So grateful for the GX manga having its own translation now, props to the translator(s) for their hard work! I love this version so much; I like how it abbreviates the politics to a degree and lets us in on Maomao's true feelings more than the other versions. She's still somewhat of an unreliable narrator here, but in a way that feels almost more engaging and real? As in: Jinshi's advances feel well received enough (whereas I find the other ver. often makes it a lot more vague, which is why readers who want an "easy" read are left unsatisfied. Personally, I love how much the other version makes me think about their relationship, though! Maomao's heart becomes yet another mystery to piece together.) Gosh. I love this story and all of it's versions to bits, Jinshi and Maomao just fill my heart in a way no other animanga duo has done it for me. So excited to see how the GX manga continues!!

Suirei seems more like an interesting character that the anime ver., its just some scenes, but she shines a lot more

I disagree with her assessment of the makeup. Eyebrows look better if they're not too plucked and those thicker lips gives me a sense of "look don't touch", which puts a distance that limits attractiveness to that of a display doll.

Gosh. I love this story and all of it's versions to bits, Jinshi and Maomao just fill my heart in a way no other animanga duo has done it for me.

All the different versions are good at different things, so they're all refreshing to read (or watch). Different perspectives, different foci, and so on.
