Interesting. I feel like the significance of the story was not so clear in the other manga, nor was the true plot of the two women. Considering how much this version tends to add detail, I hope I understand better this time around.
Yeah, it sounds like the two has a 'grudge' against the 4 High Consorts. This detail isn't included in the other version

Some clarification (and I suppose editing) is required on page 16. Gaoshun states that "-there are windows to the east and north-", however the panel showcases him circling areas pointing to the east and south. Then, on page 17 it is stated that the manservants watch the south and east windows, not the north and east windows. I do not know the process of re-editing pages on here, but I hope this is only a small issue that can be easily fixed.

I don't remember what is going to happen, but I worry that those may be mercury mirrors. Got one myself, and they sweat on the back, so need to be careful when moving them.

Hey there, thanks for the chapter!

I have two questions:

1. Were Honnyan's lines on pg 20 misplaced? Because she says "Something like Renshi-sama receiving a lot of precious miracle drugs." first.

2. I heard this manga is getting officially licensed in English. Will you continue working on it? I think that would be a shame, because I really like your work!

The lines are in the right place, although it looks like that particular line needs some tweaking for clarification*.

The current plan is to keep going until any official publisher overtakes us. Also, the official licence is for a South-East Asian publisher, so its distribution will most likely be limited to that region.

She really wanted to explain the mirror to Maomao. Maomao too smrt, plz nrf.

"...no more than half a chou away."
Shouldn't that be "no less"? The context implies they would have difficulties getting close to them.

I think the introduction of the chapter kind of hints at one possible solution...

"Woah, what is this?"
Judging by Maomao's expression, something medically valuable.

The bird and the rabbit picture. Singular.

I find it interesting to compare the two versions of the manga. Here, the two versions are almost the same. I just missed Maomao’s "little dance" when she gets the bear gall in this version.

That chō unit really threw me off.

Since this is based off of Ming China, 丁 (ding in most Chinese dialects) would have been a compass point (roughly SSW), not a unit of length. I get this is written by a Japanese person, but since names are being transliterated according to the setting as Mandarin, and converting to chi (as used in Ming, equivalent to feet) wouldn't make for easy reading, I wonder if just translating it to 50 m like it says in the furigana would help avoid that whiplash. Or maybe it was just me.

Either way, thanks as always for the great translation.

Problem with that is that metres don't exist in Ming China either. I couldn't transliterate it as ding for the reasons you stated. At this point, I just stopped thinking too hard about it haha

Don't worry, chi and cun will make an appearance in the next chapter, but if you try doing the maths to get with the value denoted by the furigana, well, guess what, the units of measurement are all going by Japanese standards anyway...

Does anyone know the relevance of the pregnant sister story or is it just a blip that was never expanded on? And how about the twin diplomats in the other manga they never went further on with their story, why did they come at all?

Just read everything up to here over the week. I love this story. I didn't expect it to become a mystery solving type, though.

Fun thing to note, the light novels translates the emissaries names as Ayla and Aylin. These are both Turkish names meaning "moonlight" and "of the moon" respectively.

Maomao says that the girl could be carrying something other then a baby, like a secret. In other words, she could be spying. I won't say much more for spoilers, but I will say as of right now there are 15 light novels and both mangas have only gotten as far as volume 4. So, there's plenty of time for this to come back up.
