Judging by the images she is used to being given a baby rather than a child that is currently traumatized from being locked in a suitcase and abandoned. Different circumstances require different skill sets, I'm sure she'll do fine once the boy feels safe enough to open up.

It has been 100 years according to her, but she was also afraid she'd be the kind of mother that gets automated texts and answering machines from their kids. Couple that with the fact she sleep ate her newest son, we might have to assume she's got some....tendencies.
