It's Japan, so rework your relationship expectations a bit, first off. That aside, I don't know many countries today where knocking a girl up and then just seemingly not reacting is considered a cool thing to do. And where's this 'non-standard relationship' nonsense coming from? They had a one-night stand and she got pregnant. It's not implied to be some socially concious modern development. THey just got drunk, had sex, and she got pregnant, and his reaction in the first part of the scene, as far as the two leads could tell was just 'yeah, that seems like a her problem.' They called him on it and he decided to not be a dick.
