how utterly dumb this plot is, "humanity is evil"

why? never get a real answer
If human is the species that caused the downfall of the earth and triggered the post apocalyptic setting then it's pretty self-explanatory that human as a species is more evil than good. What's more, the remaining human dragged down new life forms like the gem people and the admirabilis. They need to go after all they have done, simple as that. Humanity in this setting had its run and it's time for them to leave the stage and not influence what come after them.

The AI was not a new creature born from the cycle of evolution, but a tool, so, humanity was still responsible for it.

Even so, the premise that humanity is inherently evil is the opposite of the last chapter, they literally said that humanity can make good and beautiful things, and for that reason, even if there is a chance for them to do evil, that fact outweighs that possibility.

People talking about nihilism and misanthropy are even reading the same chapters?

across both iterations of this one thing is clear:

how utterly dumb this plot is, "humanity is evil"

why? never get a real answer, just esoteric and circular arguments, the gems were born long after humanity died, the robots are busted and suffering mass errors, the moon people were the abandoned souls of the worst of humanity, and the professor was nihilistic as hell and did everything she could to quickly wipe away any trace of humanity as fast as she could for...no reason, becoming a revisionist to all accomplishments that led her to the point she was able to do what she did

also let's not forget there is literally sea humans now since Phose released human gene vault recreations the moon people created into the sea

all in all this plot has lost itself and just comes across as a religiously arrogantly "every human is born, raised, and exists as an evil that is destined to die for it's crimes" BS you see every domestically abusive zealot parent uses to justify whipping their kid 100 times for asking if they can have dessert
Damn it's sad but I agree with you in a way and probably this is one of my biggest criticism of the story. In these last few chapters, humans were painted awfully. And what makes it worse is that the reason why Phos had to suffer was because he is becoming human, more precisely developing human emotions.

As the the story goes, Phos developed an urge to change his situation (stop the gem from being kidnapped by the Lunarians) and finally seeking truth. We all know that the other gems doesn't care about Kongo/Adamant's connection with the Lunarians. Phos is the only gem that wants to know the truth.

There's nothing wrong in seeking the truth. He just want the gems to stop suffering. But in the end he has to suffer from his curiosity. He has to suffer all the consequences while the gems he tried to protect lived and died peacefully.

Even Aechmea who manipulated Phos to the point of no return, who displayed the worse of humanity, doesn't suffer any consequences and I argue if he actually felt sorry for Phos (well he said that he was but I'm not buying it).

In the end I'm really confuse of what message Ichikawa wants to send. Is it that Human is bad so they need to disappear? Is she trying to tell us that nothing matters so why even try to change anything?

It kinda sucks that if you think about it, Phos wouldn't have to suffer and any of this wouldn't happen if he just did the encyclopedia job like he was told to.
