Some says that power corrupt people. It only shows how you really are
I argue against that. Not that power doesn't corrupt, it does. It's absolute power that shows a person's true nature. Because someone with a stronger power can overthrow another person with power. But no one can do anything to someone with absolute power.

This shows in the difference between Akari and Junpei, the absolute strongest in the world. Both do whatever they want, but while Junpei uses it to torture and massacre people, Akari uses it so she can die one day and helps people in the meantime.

Basically, absolute power is a 'what you are in the dark' situation.

Mmm I would say that the more power you have, the more you reveal your true self

In a way. Though, some people would have to let go some of their principles for more power because it's necessary. For example Raiden from MGS.
He had to let go a lot of his own personal rules and principles throughout the game so he would be stong enough to beat his enemies. And then having to let go of his ideal where he wields his sword to uphold peace for the final battle. Instead, doing so just to kill the bastard who caused so much problems and pissing him off so badly.
Power corrupts due to situations that require a person doing something that goes against their moral code. If someone doesn't need to go through things like that, there would be less need to compromise. And if nothing is compromised, then they are showing their more and more their true self.

In that case it's not the power that corrupted them, but their desire for power. Nevertheless you never desire power per se, but what comes with that power, if you do things that are "against" you "principles" to get it, from the very beginning the "thing" that you desired, was already more important than your "principles"
