I gotta be honest I really dislike how the author uses this seed of contract stuff. Like he basically threatens people by saying he'll either kill them, or let them die, unless they agree to be bound by the contract. And then of course, in desperation they accept -- but those are the actions of a villain, really. So what really makes me upset is that then these people continue to be friends with Rei after this. Like they just fucking ignore that he's holding their life hostage from now on, and that they'll instantly die if they're ever forced to reveal his secret -- even if they were like, drunk, or tortured, or whatever.

His trust issues don't really make a lot of sense to me.

@LysandersTreason Yeah, it's used too casually. Right now they aren't in any particular danger. They are only inconvenienced because they don't have a prompt way to continue forward, being harassed by the monkeys. That contract thing should be left for situations where it's either do or die. As it is now, this scheme would be more sensible if the contract existed for some hours, but after that it would automatically terminate, and they would also forget what it was all about.
