Looking for a manga that I forgot

If it wasn't a manga then it was an anime, and if not an anime then a dream (though I hope it's not, as it feels very real). The part that I remember most in this manga/anime is this: A 40+ year old man, probably a scientist, walks into his secret laboratory through a sliding automatic door that looks like a titanium wall at first glance. After finally completing his research, which took over a decade, his dream to speak to his dead wife and daughter is a reality. They're only apparitions, but they look so real. They talk fervently, eager to catch up on years lost. But after a few days of this, it doesn't look like he's going to let them rest anytime soon. They beg him to shut off his device. "It hurts." they say. "This isn't natural. Let us Die." But he doesn't. Though they suffer terribly, he cannot bring himself to watch them die again. Days go by. His wife seems to age faster and faster, and his daughter sicker and sicker. They cannot die, but they cannot live. Unimaginable pain racks their souls. A fate worse than death. Still, he cannot bring himself to turn off the machine. He cannot bring himself to let them go. Their forms darken, their scowls deepen, and moans of pain and anger escape their formless lips. Slowly, but surely, they all grow mad together.

Plot twist: the manga doesn't exist and OP is pitching their idea to see if people are interested, only to be dissapointed that Replicas already stole the premise then rage quits off the site
