I really, really love this series so far. Hosomura-san was decent enough, but the writer for this series has managed to take similar concept/atmosphere and elevate excellently. Each character conveys a rich inner life in a subdued way that feels similar to how we come to understand the people around us in real life. And I have a true investment in getting to know the main character with each successive chapter– she's painted in such a full bodied way that shows her as a person with connections, experiences, and interests far beyond the unfortunate circumstances she's growing around. And to top it off, the gourmet portions of the chapters are just delectable In a way Hosomura-san never wuite achieved for me (I think it emphasized cooking while leaving a lot to be desired when it came to eating the resulting meals).
