I guess it's because I was more focused on observing Akuta Rintaro's character development then everyone else's.
That "Don't you think that at the moment, your more human then me?" Just felt like his entire arc getting wrapped up in a tear-stained bow shaped like boobs.
And the fact that he actually grows up normally into a better person even without the "magical girls of the end" project goes to show that that apocalypse fucked with his mental state along with the thought that at any moment he could die, causing him to act more hysterical then normal.
The best example happening when he saw the naked dead bodies, he didn't even give a thought for his life after seeing that, he didn't care if the killer would come back and kill him or not. He just immediately went to necrophilia since he's going to die anyway.
BTW Kogami x Himeji is the second best ship in this entire manga.
That's not a joke I actually really love them together.
