If you read this whole page here it also says she identifies as a girl. What's clear here is that there's a differentiation being made between sex characteristics and gender/gender identity, both this bio page and her wiki page make that clear.

Tbh, this is not too uncommon. There is LGBTQ+ representation in anime like Sailor Moon galore, not to mention the whole "trap" trope lol
