Thank you for your effort for translating this!

I honestly never thought I would enjoy an adult manga with explicit content this much, everything from the writing to the character designs is top tier!

Looking forward to the offical release and hell maybe we might get an anime.

Mark my words, YenPress will waste everyone time by releasing a year or so after the said series is done.

YenPress may be somewhat good, but they tend to delay those released series by a long time.

By the time they start to sell it on their digital store, the manga or LN has already finished their run a more than a year.

Is it really that bad? But they say first volume will be published this summer though???
I'll be really honest, I don't read licensed english stuff (so i don't keep up with their releases and whatnot) except when I'm curious about how they are translating something and it isn't very often (the last official licensed thing I read was the LN for 'How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom' because I was curious about how they would translate it).

Oh well, I did check out the 'official' for Boukyaku Battery as well since I was the fan translator for that one and that got me really upset since the official is using AI (no translator credited) and that's totally botched... they fucked up the most basic recurring theme in the manga and worded it something fucking weird... and a lot of the translation isn't what the JP was saying... don't they even have people checking that =.= it leaves me with no closure that one...

Since I can read Japanese, I just stick with JP books cause easier to get and way cheaper. The last time I read something by Yen Press was when they licensed 'Gaikotsu Honda-san' Volume 1 (Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san) because I was translating that at the time. In general, I didn't quite like what they did with the translation because I feel like they took away the chaotic and very self deprecating humour in the original.

Yes, they announced it, but they can also post the delay notice as they wish at the moment.

The licensed english are always a hit or miss depending on which publisher did the works. Most of the high profile always managed to mistranslated and destroy the context of the story.

The first volume yes, the next thing is when they'll release the next one. I bought the 6th volume of The Great Snake Bride in October, next one is in July, didn't even bother to read the one I bought and dropped the manga from my list because I'll have forgotten everything by the time the next one comes out.

Now I just plan to finish the manga I'm following on Mangadex as well as the ones being released in my country and then I'm done with this media. I should have learnt JP when I was a student. :aquadrink:

Oh dear... I tell you what, it's been something I've been thinking for a while... Ever since Bouba got the AI treatment, I've been thinking is it still viable to say I'll stop translating once something is licensed... Like, I know I got a ko-fi linked, but I want you guys to know, it's never about hustling for money with this, if someone thinks I did a good job, I appreciate the tip because I'm trying to save money to do something, but if nobody ever tip/donate, it's not the end of the world either.
But what I want to say is, I want to support the original authors, always... if by continuing translating, it can help the official, then I might consider it, but I think that's just wishful thinking... but I don't wish for the manga to be in limbo and then people forget about it...
Also, I've been scanlating on and off for close to 15 years, I've never once break my rule of translating licensed stuff... it's still a hard decison to make.

I'll mull on this one and see what Yen Press do... and decides from there... how about that?

You already did an excellent job, so whatever you decide, I'll be thankful for what I got.
It's just sad to see the manga you're following getting licensed nowadays, it feels like a parent telling you that your dog went to a farm and he's in a better place now.

Anyway, enough melodramatic rambling from me. Again, thanks for the quality work, that MTL version was indeed pure shit.

Yeah Yen Press just takes fffffucking forever, and personally I've been a tiny eensy weensy little bit skeptical about it ever since they mistranslated a very minor line in a Yohaji extra (Mouse-sensei is not the Principal's homeroom teacher, he is second oldest AFTER the principal) (but this was half a sentence in a character profile, overlooking things happens). Glad that it's getting an official release at least. Still, not exactly looking forward to waiting a volume a year

Though, they definitely aren't going to be translating these extras lol

Thank you for saying I did an excellent job, that means a lot.
Also, I don't think its melodramatic rambling, if anything I think its very valid. You're a paying customer. But from what I gleaned from the comments here and on Nemu, it seems to be like because there isn't much competition in the licensing world, it gives off a take it or leave it vibe from the licensing company.
May I ask, how long does it takes for Yen Press usually to announce the second volume after the first? If they take a long time and its gonna look like they are going to drag it, then I can take action... or is that dependent on sales? but i think this can be popular since it has ecchi... i think that 'perverted' in the title (They are going with 'Magic Doctor Rex's Perverted Medical Record' as the official English title) gonna attract some gooners lol

@motokare Ayashiya is a long abandoned manga which had uniquely gorgeous art and interesting characters. I can't read Japanese or find a summary of the later portions, but it would most likely match your (quite excellent in my opinion) taste in series. The mangaka's other work, Shinobi no Kuni, was memorable in a way few series are.

aw that's too bad! i'm ngl compared to official licensing, your translation's quality is more trustworthy, especially with the tl notes explaining the memes.

will you at least translate the chapters that were done by the MTL group? reading it drove me crazy lol

I'll see how far I can go before Yen Press drop the official... since i am doing this solo and i've picked up quite a bit of stuff since i started translating this, I'm trying to not neglect anything so the timing between each chapter for this is further apart... i'll still do the new chapter that's dropping in JP until summer :D... next chapter will drop next friday, though I think it'll be the third part of this Tenga omake... its supposed to be a 3-parter...
