Just let the Calamity kill the white hoods. Let them suffer the consequences of their actions killing witches. Of course this series would never actually do that sort of thing so they are going to save them and then they're going to be a reoccurring problem that will probably cause a lot of damage and death that could have been prevented by just killing them.

I have a feeling this is when it’ll go downhill. They’re going to brush past the fact they killed the old guy, make this guy a recurring character and then give an undeserved redemption arc

If I had a nickel for every manga I read today about someone hunting witches who kills indiscriminately I'd have two nickels. It's not a lot but it's weird it happened twice.
