I'm kinda over seeing most of the more interesting characters ( at least in my eyes) lose and than go to yet another and another and another similar fight. The author needs to give us something more, some actual story progression
We are still in the first round. I do hope the witches stand up against the queen. Otherwise it will take ten more years to get to the final.

I'm not sure how far ahead the author planned for this one, to be honest. It really felt like he jumped on the opportunity to make a "Valkyrie Apocalypse, but with waifus" and thought he'd probably milk it long enough before it would get axed. The author is on a ton of projects at the same time, he can easily start a hiatus on this one if he feels like he can't come up with anything interesting for the second round.
Either way, it's probably not going to be possible to make this end in a satisfying manner. I assume most people read this for the fights, but I don't think there'd be much hype to watch two characters we already know everything about duke it out, not to mention the pacing would be a bit off because he wouldn't be able to pad the fights with flashbacks anymore. But at the same time, the overarching plotline seems almost non-existent even after more than 50 chapters in, so twisting the formula after the last fights of the first round would feel out-of-place. At least, considering how the manga is currently going.

Anyway, can't wait for the next chapter where we learn that the indomitable Japanese spirit and steel can't be beaten by sheer luck. Nippon banzai.

I think it's very likely that Sasaki will win. Not necessarily because she's Japanese (it could very well be, but we don't have evidence yet), but because she's the first to have suffered a major injury.

The only apparent bias so far is that Asians are pretty much guaranteed to win (except Wu Zetian, who lost against Jeanne D'Arc, the protagonist). We haven't really seen many Asian-vs-Asian fights to confirm if there's a stronger bias towards Japanese fighters over other Asians. The only such fight so far was Orihime vs Yaoya, both of whom are Japanese. As for Lakshmi, she's technically Asian, but we can't exactly draw any conclusions from only 1 fight.

The decision to make that many witches fight will bite hime in the ass for sure as it will take him forever to finish the tourney + the orverarching storyline.

However I do think the next rounds can be interesting, whether it is from the witches adapting and creating strategies against their opponent or them becoming familiar with their powers and creating new abilities. And I wouldn’t exclude new flashbacks adding to the backstory to pop out.

Fighting mangas such as Kengan Asura have shown that even known fighters duking it out can manage to stay hype.

'Those evils brits, colonizing my country and stopping us from burning widows alive and marrying 40 year old men with 14 year old girls' I laughed.

And that confirm what I said, there's no way to make an interesting fight with her power in the next round if she wins.

You'd think she would have quite a bit of bad karma from the unarmed men, women and children she had her rebels kill across several massacres.

If this one also ends up with the japan one winning I'm gonna be so disappointed
I've seen so much interesting lore in more obscure foreign characters and yet the east asian ones almost always win with plot armor

I kinda want Lakshmibai to win, just because it's so rare to see Indian characters in manga, especially fighting ones.
