Ok, why most of the women in this are smoking? Is it a trend, a kink, to make them look sexy, and empowered?

Recently, I saw a few new works which are re glamorizing smoking... Making it fun, cool, the best way to meet new people.

Just, no. Stop.
I see you fail to comprehend the main actual reason.
It's not glamorizing anything, cigarettes are a central part of the plot and they're clearly shown to be very potent drugs in most cases. Did you read the rest of the manga diagonally ?

Also, people smoke. Yeah it sucks, but it's a fact of life. But unless the manga shows a pack of Lucky Strikes as a front shot advertisement and tells us how cool it is to smoke these, I think most people won't feel compelled to do so.
Firstly,it's a fact of life, especially for those looking for a vice, and these poor witch lasses don't have much left for their asses outside of alcoholism, heavy drugs,self-harm,and debauchery.

Albeit having a bunch of magical, out of their luck chicks who engage in nightly toxic lesbian orgies with various implements just to feel less empty inside also sounds like a good read.
huh? but i thought it was common sense that smoking, swearing, and turning into a magical girl were always the coolest thing ever?

Second, yeah, flaunting a vice as age old as cigs and booze can seem cool, cool enough that governments tax ever loving crap out of them,so any hope of actually making them uncool will never work.

Hollywood, though, has been using a solution for a very long time.
Bro clicked on a manga titled witches and cigarettes and got triggered when the witches smoke.
Read the title of the manga dumbass
.....even discounting the name of the manga, did you read any chapter before this one??
Third, you walked into this one, can't really crawl yourself back out.
...
...you look at THESE centuries old ladies of all people, some of the most absolutely headfucked, mind/spiritbroken characters to be featured in a current manga, who lived from the Middle Ages or before and had numerous friends (human or animal) burned alive and then were sent to the winds and in many cases had to live alone in hiding ever since, and are big bundles of bruh and cope, and you think

!?(???!?!). Dude. DUDE. I think you need to maybe take a step back and think on this a little bit more.

This too lol.
Fourth, this is a common trope, living forever means living through everything that has ever been offered.

Combine that with the struggle to survive past the bad ending they all experienced, and you start to wonder where the one witch whose addiction to crack cocaine causes her to get it like Donkey Kong for $1.50 USD per client.
Everyone who responded to my message by trolling or explaining me life by smoking.... You are the dumbest persons I have read here so far and also the ones that swallow so hard all the years of marketing and advertising around smoking.

Smoking is shit and you are here defending it like it's the most natural thing you can do to ruin your fucking life. Damn.

And yes IT IS glamorizing it. No one is talking about how bad it is for your health, your money, the environment and the person around you. They are smoking like they are eating candy. And NO they are only smoking the "medicines" the witch is making.

And here I was expecting to not get that much of bad reactions since I wasn't talking about alcohol, lol.
My fellow, you tried preaching an already well known topic by trying to force a belief that blindly doesn't even consider the economical state a lot of these wenches have ended up in,and tried to preach this to a bunch of salty seadogs who've braved Davy Jones' gym locker to reach the pirated booty of comics, the real treasure trove, and except any of us to believe such landlubber hogwash?...
I say this with all sincerity and good intent -

You can choose to just not read the manga.

And you can choose to not engage with it, or with the people who are actually enjoying it.

You might even be happier that way.
I mean... Main character looks like the epitome of being trashy, like the most unfortunate back-alley hooker, malnourished and melancholic drug addict... Which was part of her initial charm and not exactly too glamorous, she's not, say, the cleansing image of healthiness.
I smoke and that led me to uploading these so smoking is pretty cool.
Go back to school. You can't even speak English.
People get triggered by smoking lol
What's next, power up with breast milk?

Oh
What's next, people complaining that NinKoro glamorizes murder?

FFS it is fiction.
Nobody defended smoking. Nobody talked about any benefits of smoking. Nobody said anything that even remotely sounds like the marketing and advertising you allude to.

I mean, if I'm wrong, then provide some quotes. Show where people posting here have said otherwise, or even implied otherwise.

And if not, then you appear to just be 'reading' what you want to see in their comments, just as you've decided to 'read' the manga and see what you want to see. Despite that the witches are wretched, broken people, clearly not all that well put together. Even the food shop owner.

You also need to get your head checked if you're the type of person who reads this and thinks the acts are being glamorized simply because the writer doesn't flat out tell you in black and white its bad. Does this manga also glamorize living in a sewer or garbage dump? Taking and selling drugs? Feeding and interacting with large amounts of wildlife? Living in idleness? You must be a real easy mark.

Since it hasn't gotten into your head, I'll also repeat what everyone else has said, again. The manga is literally called Witches and Cigarettes. Majo to Kyurasu. 魔女とくゅらす. Yes, it's the correct translation. Mangadex helpfully provides the alt name in freaking bold.

That means either you are a moron whose reading ability and attention to detail is astoundingly poor, unsurprising given your conclusions about the manga and it's readers. Or you are a moron who saw the word cigarette on the title, and deliberately decided from then on that the existence of this manga offends you and you have to come tell everyone about it. So which is it?
Also lol at the toolbag tourist here whining about cigarettes as if kindergarteners are reading this. Go pursue a career in politics, dork.
Feel the wrath of the gate being kept, keep the unworthy morons out of the hobby, remind us all in 2026 what we fought so hard for in 2025,we will not sit quietly as folks like you attempt to destroy the hobbies we enjoy with such brain dead takes.

It's interesting how all the witches are damaged in some way, I really like how Rea's cheerfulness hides that shocking reveal of her reflection.
Her boss should set her up with a bank account though.
