Clueless Shonen Sunday buyer: Oh, cool cover, I wonder what exciting chapter lies inside?
I guess the thing that surprises me the most about middle school in mejaseca being this long is that...nothing ever happens. Ever. Oh yay, more practice and more meaningless games, that's exactly what I wanted. Like seriously I thought we were already past these nothingburgers fucking chapters.
I’m realizing…that it’s not a Toshiya specific problem, it’s that every character in mejaseca acts spineless. Obviously there’s Toshiya, then there’s Daigo who just accepted when Mutsuko said to intentionally walk Furuya, and now Michiru giving up on being the starter just because Uozumi told her to, Chiyo-nee is basically a giant walking “Please walk all over me'' sign. It’s like the whole manga's been castrated, that's some serious commitment to the bit lol

I was interested in Major 2nd because of Daigo and Hikaru and then anime S2 happened. Thanks for continuing to translate. At this point, I just want to see their next meeting.

One of the things about this manga is that I can't imagine Daigo playing in the Majors or just going pro even.
Like does he even want to at this point? What was this manga about again?

It's really been seven years huh... The anime S2 was just 💀

...Who knows? I myself don't know really well. I've been translating this manga for over a year now and I wouldn't be able to tell you what it's about or who the main character is.
Fuurin-Oobi's a girl's team right? Since Daigo's just another girl, there's no need to consider his baseball future beyond middle school.
Players who are aiming to go pro are already thinking about what high school they want to get into, but Daigo's in the last tournament of his third year of middle school and there's not a single moment where he even mentions high school, much less thinks about wanting to make a good impression in front of the scouts. He's supposed to be a logical character as opposed to Goro, he doesn't have an excuse.
The Mifune/Tomonoura game is interesting because it's an exciting showdown between old friends and rivals, but also because Goro and Toshiya were waging their futures on that game, or at least they thought they were. It's a high-stakes game. Mitsuda recycled that conflict (lol at the people who think mejaseca isn't a copy) without actually using any of the elements that made it good. The Daigo and Hikaru thing, if you could even call it that, is just a meaningless childish dispute. There's no stakes there. It even stopped making sense as "getting revenge on Tsujido" (which again has no stakes) since adding Michiru and Oobi. The chapter where they lost against Tsujido came out over four years ago, who even cares anymore?

Thanks for the translations. I think the author can do whatever they want with their own series. So far he has focused so much on the middle school aspect and it can be true that perhaps that is the only thing he will focus on. However it is also possible to create a new branch, introduce high school stuff etc..

All i want to say is be there for the ride, for me this series is still something i check up on once a while to see where it is heading.
