Witches are poor just victims, the church hunting them is oppressive, inflexible, violent, and blames the witches for everything wrong with the world.. Despite being a bit cliché, the story is still off to an interesting start.

honestly, is the church even that bad in this story? of course, it would be smart to cooperate with the witches but imagine a being that seemingly has more power than you, that almost destroyed your world only a few decades ago, can probably train and hone their power, and finally, the scariest part, can pop up out of nowhere. you can't really blame them for taking heavy and extreme precautions.

@Kuroww Actually the story doesn't add up, if witches really have the power to almost destroy the world then they could have just defeated the church easily..
