Kimura probably got hurt there too because there was a time that Manaka was about to confess to him and he denied it and what she did now is a confirmation (to him at least) that what she felt then wasn't romantic love at all so probably that's why he was so spaced out this chapter. Next chapter will confirm if Manaka really is after Kimura now since he will definitely try to get Ei and her be alone together. Primitive doesn't just mean they were "primordial"? As in specifying it's referring to humans during the early period of our history?
Primitive means in the early stages but the problem is that we don't know when the early stages of a civilization end. Are we still in the Primitive stage or have we already entered the middle stage of a civilization? We have no way of knowing.
When we talk about primitive humans we usually refer to periods where humans still used stone tools or were nomad hunter-gatherers, the oldest stone tools seem to be from about 3.3 million years ago and the first agricultural revolution started on 10,000 BC.
My main problem is that the word primitive is almost always used in a derogatory way. Calling someone primitive is never a compliment. And also calling civilizations primitive was a strategy used by a lot of colonizing forces to excuse their horrendous actions by simply saying they're just a bunch of primitive Savages so it's fine for us to do this.
That's irrelevant, the early stages will always be measured relative from the current history, and when our history becomes long enough that we become primitive as well, then they can just make wider categorizations of primitive.
That's just your perspective, I don't hear it being used frequently at all, and even when it's used is not usually derogative, and in the few "derogative" instances I've heard it, it's often used jokingly and mostly thinking about pop culture's cavemen rather than the actual primitive humans, making fun of that representation rather than the historical group.
Why would it be? Is it automatically an insult if it's not praise?
And why tf should we care in a world where that strategy is no longer used? You are even talking about this in a space where no one is using the word Primitive in a derogative way and understand they weren't stupid. As I said, you are the only one here treating "Primitive" as to be equal to "Stupid" or "Savage".
Specially since it's a mistake a teenager would 100% do, like there are many things about us that are pretty rare (like culture, menopause or sweating), but going as far as saying only we do one specific thing is a pretty easy mistake to do when you are that young.
