Make Title Links Compulsory for All Users

When making a title draft, users are required to put a link for their draft to be accepted. If not, they will be rejected. This is true as evidenced below (sorry vip for using your messages):

However, this is not the case for those with the GL/Contrib/PU roles as their drafts are automatically accepted. Today I found a new title that was added that had no links because it was created by a user with this permission:

I would like to suggest two changes to make adding links compulsory to all users:
  1. Add it to the rules.
  2. Add a warning or pop-up to the title creation page that alerts the user when no links have been added.
Adding it to the rules is far and away the easiest solution, as it allows moderators the ability to enforce it and restrict users that repeatedly break the rules. You can't enforce what isn't a rule. However, I recognize this isn't foolproof, you still have to find and report new titles without links. By adding a pop-up to the title creation page, you are able to force users to add at least one link before their title can be accepted either by the system or by a moderator.

n.b. this will not stop users from adding random garbage links to bypass the check, which is exactly what people do for drafts already.

On the other side of this,

Similar to what is said here^, There are often titles which have no official links, Assuming there is no tracker site available for it, Of the top of my head,
  • Deleted twitter/pixiv doujins, Often times authors delete their pages and there are no archives of their works (+ deleted patreon exclusive work)
  • Cancelled titles
  • Titles with Unknown origin, see: Author: Unknown
  • Titles that were released only released physically in doujin conventions

Garbage link or no link, the result is still a rejected draft. I don’t see how this would affect the moderators role in the approval process (especially if it’s already happening). But I speak from a place of ignorance and would like to learn more.

Yeah I’m willing to admit there are special cases which requires a little more thought on how to implement, but I think overall it should be a net positive.

Garbage link in the autoapproved submission = autoapproved submission. People are willing to put garbage in to bypass the draft checks, they'll do the same to get through autoapproval. Always a better idiot to break these systems.

There is no reasonable way to detect someone posting a bad official raw link, because of how arbitrary those are, and that'll still get them through autoapproval. Also, as you realised above, lots of titles don't have valid links; old doujins/oneshots are often obscure enough to not be listed elsewhere, and user-created titles generally don't have existing links to use.

Just remove their perms for breaking the rules lol
I’ll concede on these points, but I still believe this issue is worth looking into.

Back to the drawing board
