One thing I find really weird about this manga is just how different they were in their relationship and how they interact now.
I get they've changed as people, but I feel like the conflict of how they broke up wasn't severe enough to make them so rude to each other now. Obviously, the manga is attempting to use that contrast as a hook, the fabled "gap", but I don't think it makes a lot of sense. Especially having to flashback all the time -- if this had just been a linear story of them going through that middle school relationship, breaking up, time jump, then meeting again, I feel like this whole story would've been more compelling. But that's probably outside of the author's skill level.
I also think I preferred the FMC's past personality too. There's a lot of heroines like her now in other manga, but not so many like her former nerdy self. (But I guess it wouldn't be your slice of life romcom slop if it wasn't for the heroine also being a standout beauty / top performer / etc all rolled into one
)
